In 2020, Romy Keegan of Maple Street Dance and I collaborated online using my improvised cadenzas to lead into and out of the J.S. In 2020, Romy Keegan of Maple Street Dance and I collaborated online using my improvised cadenzas to lead into and out of the J.S. Bach Partita No 1 in B minor for Unaccompanied Violin Allemande movement. The piece is very difficult for clarinet as it was scored for string crossings, however the dramatic large melodic leaps dovetail wonderfully with Romy's gracefully loose dance choreography. I'm pleased with how the rhythmic stretch evolved with our rehearsals, keeping the melodic intervals and metric subdivisions the same as notated. I hope these recordings inspire your movement and concept of classic composition to stretch as well.
